NECoPA

The Northeast Conference on Public Administration (NECoPA) is the annual regional conference of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) – the largest and most prominent professional organization in public administration. Founded in October 2010 at the School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) at Rutgers University-Newark, NECoPA brings together scholars and practitioners of public service in a collaborative environment intended to foster discussion on current issues, research, and practice in public and nonprofit organizations.

CONFERENCE THEME
This year’s conference focuses on the emerging and enduring challenges facing public administration during a time of tremendous change. Public administrators’ responses to these challenges are numerous and have enjoyed varied successes as well as failures. This professional conference will illuminate myriad issues and present innovative practices and approaches to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of government operations and advance public value.  

Choose from over 35 dynamic panels led by more than 120 top scholars and practitioners in the field of public administration. The preliminary program will be available on the NECoPA website soon. Past conferences have featured more than 100 presentations of academic papers, workshops, and discussion of best practices, and have been attended by several hundred participants from the Northeast region, across the United States, and from a number of foreign countries.

DIRECTIONS TO THE CAMPUS CENTER, UMASS BOSTON

• There are parking lots throughout the campus and it is $6.00 to park all day.
  
• There is a free campus shuttle bus from a nearby subway stop (“JFK/UMass” station – redline) to UMass Boston Campus Center. 
• If you are staying at the DoubleTree Club Bayside, the hotel is located two blocks from the “JFK/UMass” station.  You may walk to the station to take the shuttle to the Campus Center.  On foot, it will take about 13 minutes (0.7 miles), however, taking the shuttle is recommended as it is quick and easy.
